Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has given non-Marathi-speaking auto and taxi drivers one year to learn Marathi.

Fadnavis also assured drivers that no punitive action would be taken against them during this period.

The announcement comes as a major relief for drivers who had raised concerns about losing their livelihoods.

#7 THREE MPSC OFFICIALS AMONG SIX HELD OVER DRUG INSPECTOR EXAM PAPER LEAK

Mumbai Police arrested six people, including three Maharashtra Public Service Commission officials, over the alleged leak of a question paper for the Drug Inspector (Group-B) screening examination.

The examination was conducted earlier this year.

#8 FARMERS PROTEST AGAINST DISTRIBUTION OF CAUVERY WATER TO TAMIL NADU

Farmers in Mandya district have staged several protests against the release of Cauvery river water from the KRS and Kabini dams to Tamil Nadu.

The farmers say their opposition is driven by concerns over water shortages and the availability of sufficient supplies for local agricultural needs.

#9 53 PEOPLE FROM KERALA STILL MISSING AS TWO TOURIST GROUPS FOUND SAFE IN NEPAL

The search for 53 people from Kerala who remain missing following flash floods in Nepal is continuing.

Relief came after 36 tourists from Kanhangad and Kasargod were found safe.

Another 16 tourists from Kottayam have also reportedly been located safely.

#10 PARANDUR AIRPORT: 6,000 ACRES ACROSS 13 VILLAGES SPARK DEVELOPMENT VS DISPLACEMENT DEBATE

The proposed Parandur airport project in Tamil Nadu involves around 6,000 acres of land across 13 villages.

While supporters describe the project as a major development initiative, farmers and residents have raised concerns over displacement and environmental damage.

The project has intensified debate over the balance between infrastructure development, livelihoods and ecological protection.
