PowerActor Prakash Raj has made allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming that it was using SIR (Special Intensive Revision) of electoral roll and the process of delimitation as means to cling on to power when their popularity seems to be waning.
According to Raj, the ruling party has fears about people becoming agitated because of its conduct during the last ten years. He says that people’s dissatisfaction is increasing because of the “misrule” by the BJP and therefore the need to try and find other ways to stay in power even if it loses favor with people.
Both the processes of SIR and delimitation may affect the democratic process if they are conducted without being open and transparent. SIR is the process of verifying the electoral roll, whereas delimitation is the process of reorganizing the electoral constituencies according to population.
Actor Prakash Raj has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of trying to use the SIR of the electoral roll and the delimitation process to continue ruling even when their popularity among the people appears to be declining.
As stated by Raj, the ruling party is afraid that people will become agitated due to its behavior during the last decade. As a result, people are becoming dissatisfied with the “misrule” of the BJP, which is why the ruling party needs to try and find new ways to continue ruling even if it becomes unpopular.
The processes of SIR and delimitation might influence the process of democracy if they are not carried out openly. SIR is the process of verification of the electoral roll, while delimitation is the process of reorganization of electoral constituencies based on the population.
